Perez Hilton's mother has filed a petition for temporary custody of his three minor children following his recent hospitalization after a self-harm incident.

Perez Hilton's mother, Teresita Lavandeira, has filed a petition in Florida court requesting temporary custody of her grandson and two granddaughters. The filing seeks to seal the records and states that the children should not be exposed to further trauma related to the events prompting the petition.

Hilton has signed a consent form granting his mother authority to make medical and dental decisions for the children, obtain their records, enroll them in school and handle other necessary matters. The filing was first reported by Page Six.

The custody request follows Hilton's hospitalization after he injured himself during a live stream amid a mental-health crisis. He remains under the Baker Act, which permits involuntary admission for individuals experiencing severe mental health issues, and doctors have indicated he will require surgery for injuries sustained during the episode. Family members have described his condition as serious but stable.

"The children in this case should not be subjected to any further trauma related to the incidents that are the basis of the petition," the filing states.

"He remains hospitalized under the Baker Act and his condition is serious but stable," a family spokesperson said.
