सारांश

Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies detained a Downey resident carrying prohibited weapons after he was seen photographing security preparations at the Trump golf club ahead of a scheduled presidential visit.

Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies arrested 38-year-old Jeanine John Taele of Downey on Sunday at the Trump National Golf Course in Rancho Palos Verdes. Deputies, acting on a tip from plain-clothes federal agents, found a loaded magazine with hollow-point bullets in Taele's pants pocket and a loaded pistol in his vehicle parked at the club.

"The individual was observed walking throughout the golf course grounds taking photographs and videos and appearing to monitor security-planning activities," the sheriff’s department said.

Investigators learned Taele was already under probe for a robbery in El Segundo. A subsequent search of his home uncovered an illegally modified AR-style rifle, a .45-caliber pistol, body armor, high-capacity magazines, ammunition, several notebooks with concerning statements and two radio-signal devices.

Taele was charged with suspicion of carrying a concealed firearm, possession of armor-piercing or otherwise prohibited ammunition, second-degree robbery and three additional counts related to large-capacity magazines, a concealed firearm in a vehicle and possession of a short-barreled rifle. He remains in custody.

The arrest occurred two days before President Donald Trump was scheduled to visit the resort for a fundraiser. The sheriff’s department said there was no direct threat to the president.
