Law enforcement arrested a man carrying a loaded pistol and ammunition at Trump National Golf Club in Rancho Palos Verdes on Sunday, and a subsequent search uncovered additional weapons and materials.

Law enforcement officials detained a 38-year-old man at Trump National Golf Club in Rancho Palos Verdes on Sunday afternoon after federal agents observed him taking photographs and appearing to monitor security activities. Deputies found a loaded pistol, a loaded magazine in his pocket and additional ammunition in his vehicle. The individual, identified as Jeanine John Taele of Downey, was arrested on suspicion of carrying a concealed firearm and possessing prohibited ammunition and is also under investigation for a robbery case in El Segundo.

A search of Taele's residence on Monday by sheriff’s detectives and FBI agents revealed an illegally modified AR-style rifle, a .45-caliber pistol, body armor, high-capacity magazines, bulk pistol ammunition, several notebooks with concerning statements and two radio-signal devices. The case was forwarded to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office for review, and investigators said no credible threat to the community had been identified.

"This case underscores the importance of vigilance, strong partnerships with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, and the proactive steps taken to identify and investigate suspicious activity before it can escalate," the Sheriff's Department said.

The president's scheduled fundraiser at the golf course is set to proceed as planned. President Trump was traveling to Los Angeles aboard Air Force One when the arrest was announced. A White House spokesperson indicated the event would focus on the administration's policy achievements.
