Three killed in shooting at Idaho In-N-Out restaurant

Résumé

A shooting at an In-N-Out burger outlet in Twin Falls, Idaho, left three people dead and several others injured, with police still investigating the suspect's identity and motive.

Three people were killed and multiple others injured, some critically, during a shooting at an In-N-Out restaurant in Twin Falls, Idaho, on Saturday afternoon, city officials said. Police found the body of the suspected gunman near the restaurant, but have not confirmed whether he is included in the death toll. Twin Falls Police Chief Matthew Hicks told a news conference that investigators are still working to identify the shooter and determine a motive, adding that the immediate threat to the community appears to be over.

The incident occurred around 2 p.m. in a busy shopping plaza, with hundreds of people in the vicinity. Witnesses reported seeing an individual with an AR-style rifle emerge from the drive-through and a separate person firing a pistol at the shooter. An employee was seen being dragged from the parking lot with a gunshot wound to the chest.

Local residents described the chaotic scene, noting that people were running and staff were evacuating the premises. Several victims were transported to St. Luke's Magic Valley Medical Center, where hospital spokesperson Taylor Marschner said the facility is cooperating with law-enforcement and emergency responders.

The In-N-Out outlet, which opened on July 24, is part of the chain’s recent expansion into Idaho. Twin Falls, a city of about 56,000 residents, lies roughly 130 miles southeast of Boise and 75 miles north of the Nevada border.
