Twin Falls police release surveillance video of In-N-Out shooting, no motive identified

Summary

Twin Falls authorities released surveillance footage of the Aug. 1 mass shooting at an In-N-Out Burger, confirming three fatalities, seven injuries and that the suspect acted alone before dying by self-inflicted gunshot.

Twin Falls police released surveillance video showing the sequence of events during the Aug. 1 shooting at an In-N-Out Burger. The footage captured the gunman approaching the drive-thru payment window, firing at an employee identified as Ashley Garibay, and then shooting a second victim inside his vehicle. After his handgun jammed, the suspect retrieved a rifle from his car and continued firing at customers inside the restaurant. An off-duty trooper and a civilian armed with a handgun confronted the shooter in the parking lot, actions police said helped end the attack. The suspect, identified as 24-year-old Chad Williams, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The victims were Ashley Garibay, 23; Dale Schultz, 66; and Christopher Claunch, 59. Police have not identified a motive and indicated the shooter acted alone. Twin Falls Police Chief Matthew Hicks said the first officer arrived within three minutes of the call, but it took about 90 minutes to confirm there was only one shooter, noting that multiple reports of possible active shooters elsewhere diverted resources during that period.
