Three killed, two injured in Twin Falls, Idaho shooting near In-N-Out Burger

Summary

An active-shooter incident near an In-N-Out Burger in Twin Falls, Idaho, left three people dead and at least two injured, prompting a temporary shelter-in-place order that was later lifted.

Twin Falls police responded to an active-shooter report around 2:30 p.m. on Saturday near an In-N-Out Burger on Blue Lakes Boulevard North. The incident resulted in three fatalities and at least two injuries, according to city spokesperson Josh Palmer. Palmer said the number of injured could rise as the investigation continues.

Authorities from city, county and state agencies arrived on the scene, and a shelter-in-place order was issued before being lifted later in the day. Roads were reopened and witnesses were being transported to the Twin Falls County Courthouse for statements.

Police advised the public to avoid the area, which includes several major retailers and a movie theater complex. Nearby businesses took precautionary measures: a Chick-fil-A closed for the remainder of the day, and the Magic Valley Mall placed shoppers in lockdown until the situation was resolved.

The In-N-Out location, the chain's fourth in Idaho, had opened on July 24.
