Idaho In-N-Out shooting suspect identified as 24-year-old Chad Williams

Summary

Police say 24-year-old Chad Williams, who acted alone, died by suicide after a shooting at an In-N-Out Burger in Twin Falls that left four dead and seven injured.

Twin Falls, Idaho – A shooting at an In-N-Out Burger on Saturday resulted in four fatalities, including the gunman, and injured seven others, authorities said Sunday. Police identified the suspect as 24-year-old Chad Williams, who died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound after the attack. Investigators have not yet determined a motive and say Williams acted alone.

Two of the injured victims have been released from the hospital, three remain in stable condition and two are listed as critical. An off-duty Idaho State Police trooper and a civilian exchanged gunfire with Williams during the incident, and officials praised their actions.

A second officer-involved shooting occurred later when law-enforcement officers arrived on the scene and began searching the area; no additional injuries were reported. The Jerome Police Department is leading the investigation into that incident.

"An employee at the Twin Falls restaurant was killed in the shooting," said Lynsi Snyder, CEO of In-N-Out.

Local business owner Terry Dudley, who was injured, posted on Facebook that he is alive but faces a long recovery. A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to assist with his medical expenses and to support the families of other victims.
