George and Amal Clooney evacuate French home as wildfires spread
The actors left their residence in Brignodes, southern France, amid rapidly spreading wildfires and wrote to the mayor expressing concern for the community and pledging support.
George and Amal Clooney evacuated their home in Brignodes, southern France, after wildfires swept across parts of southern Europe. In a letter to the town's mayor, the couple said they were unsure whether their house would survive the fire and emphasized their commitment to the community. > "We hope you and the people of our city are safe, and we are committed to making sure that whatever happens to our village, we are part of this community and will help make it whole," the letter read. The Clooneys, who have 9-year-old twins, have made the French countryside their primary residence since 2024 and obtained French citizenship in 2025. The evacuation comes as a heat wave fuels fast-moving fires that have forced thousands of residents to leave homes in France, Spain and Greece. The couple also owns properties in England, Italy and Kentucky.
