Ben Affleck and Jamie Ding win $1 million for charity on “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire”
Actor Ben Affleck, assisted by former “Jeopardy!” champion Jamie Ding, correctly answered the final question on ABC’s “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire,” securing the top prize for Affleck’s Eastern Congo Initiative.
Actor Ben Affleck and former "Jeopardy!" champion Jamie Ding won the $1 million grand prize on ABC’s "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" during the show’s Season 5, Episode 2. The pair answered a question about which turkey names had not been pardoned by a U.S. president, ultimately selecting "Spaghetti & Meatball" after consulting host Jimmy Kimmel and Ding’s longtime trivia partner Stephen Morrison.
The winnings will be donated to Affleck’s Eastern Congo Initiative, a U.S.-based organization that supports communities in the African region. The victory marks the fifth million-dollar win under host Jimmy Kimmel, who began his tenure in April 2020.
"I’m not sure Ben knew that he was paired with a champion when he agreed to do the show. But when I told him, he seemed surprised and delighted. He’s very smart, that Ben Affleck," Kimmel told Variety.
Affleck’s win comes roughly a year after his "Good Will Hunting" co-star Matt Damon secured the same prize with assistance from current "Jeopardy!" host Ken Jennings.
