Patriots practice highlights: Boutte excels, Campbell shows progress

Résumé

In the Patriots' fourth practice, wide receiver Kayshon Boutlet recorded two touchdowns and four catches, while rookie defensive end Will Campbell succeeded in one-on-one drills against veteran linemen.

The New England Patriots completed their fourth practice session on Thursday, focusing on shell pads before an upcoming off day. Wide receiver Kayshon Boutte was involved in two scoring plays, catching four passes overall. He secured a long touchdown pass from quarterback Drake Maye, running down the right sideline and beating safety Kevin Byard. A second touchdown reception was called back by head coach Mike Vrabel during the play.

Veteran receiver A.J. Brown contributed three catches, including several slant routes and a hitch route that eluded a cornerback. The team limited stuffed runs, allowing the offense to adopt a more aggressive blocking approach.

Defensive end Will Campbell demonstrated improvement in one-on-one pass-rush drills, winning both of his matchups against Dre'Mont Jones and Bradyn Swinson at a reduced speed. The offensive line performed strongly, holding back the pass rushers during the session.

The practice also featured 7-on-7 drills and lineup adjustments as the Patriots continue to refine their schemes ahead of the next game.
