American tourist missing after swimming at Grenada's Grand Anse Beach

Résumé

Elizabeth Waddell, 44, disappeared on Wednesday while swimming near Grand Anse Beach in Grenada; authorities are asking the public for information.

Elizabeth Waddell, a 44-year-old resident of Cary, North Carolina, was last seen on Wednesday afternoon at Grand Anse Beach, a popular tourist spot in St. George, Grenada, after she went for a swim from an Airbnb pool overlooking the bay. Police issued a missing-person alert on Thursday and have appealed to fishermen, boat operators and local residents along the southern coastline to report any sightings. Waddell is described as medium-built, 5-foot-5, with short blond hair. The State Department confirmed it is aware of the case. Her husband, Cailen Waddell, posted a message on Facebook requesting assistance and expressing hope for her safe return. A friend who was staying with her said Waddell left the pool area, and when the friend later looked outside, only a towel was found on the pier, leading investigators to believe she entered the water. Anyone with information is asked to contact the South Saint George Police Station. Waddell is the founder of Art of Movement Physical Therapy.
