Oregon health officials report two Cyclospora cases possibly linked to lettuce recall

Resumen

Two Oregon residents were diagnosed with Cyclospora infections that may be connected to a national outbreak tied to pre-shredded iceberg lettuce, but officials say the overall risk to the public remains low.

Two Oregon residents have been diagnosed with Cyclospora infections that may be associated with the ongoing national outbreak linked to pre-shredded iceberg lettuce, the Oregon Health Authority said. Both patients had traveled to states where the recalled lettuce was distributed, although the product has not been reported in Oregon.

The agency noted that the state has not seen a surge in cyclosporiasis cases, with 23 cases reported so far this year. Historical data show 26 cases in 2025, 30 in 2024, 10 in 2023, eight in 2022 and 14 in 2021.

"The risk to the public remains low," officials added.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Food and Drug Administration and state health officials continue to trace the lettuce supply chain and interview individuals about their food consumption in the two weeks before illness onset. The outbreak was initially linked to Taco Bell restaurants. Additional cases are expected among travelers to affected areas or as more products are identified.
