Thunder trade Luguentz Dort to Hawks in three-team deal involving Mavericks
Oklahoma City sent guard Luguentz Dort to Atlanta, receiving three future second-round picks, while Dallas acquired No. 1 pick Zaccharie Risacher from the Hawks and Atlanta received guard Ryan Nembhard.
Oklahoma City Thunder have completed a three-team trade that sends forward Luguentz Dort to the Atlanta Hawks. In return, the Thunder will acquire Chicago’s 2027 second-round pick and two additional second-round selections in 2031 and 2032, creating a $17.7 million trade exception tied to Dort’s salary. The move also positions the Thunder well below the NBA’s second-tax apron and reduces projected luxury-tax expenses.
The Hawks will receive the 2024 No. 1 overall draft pick, French small forward Zaccharie Risacher, from the Dallas Mavericks. Atlanta will also acquire guard Ryan Nembhard from Dallas, who is owed a guaranteed $2.15 million for the 2026-27 season. The Hawks’ roster will now include perimeter defenders Dyson Daniels, Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Dort, all of whom will be eligible for contract extensions through the 2026-27 league year.
Dallas will take on Risacher’s $13.8 million contract using its existing $20.8 million traded-player exception. The Mavericks will retain a $2.3 million cushion under the luxury-tax line after the transaction and will have 16 players on standard contracts.
The trade follows recent cost-cutting moves by Oklahoma City, which also dealt Isaiah Joe to Detroit and Aaron Wiggins to Atlanta for additional second-round picks.
