U.S. Marshals arrest Andrew and Tristan Tate in Miami on UK extradition request

Résumé

Federal authorities detained the Tate brothers in Miami on a sealed warrant tied to a United Kingdom extradition request, where they face allegations of rape and human-trafficking.

Federal law enforcement officers detained social-media personalities Andrew and Tristan Tate in Miami on Saturday, the U.S. Marshals Service said. A Marshals Service spokesperson confirmed the arrest was made under a sealed warrant, and that the brothers were taken into custody on an extradition request from the United Kingdom.

The Tate brothers, who hold both U.S. and British citizenship, have been wanted in Britain on charges that include rape and human-trafficking offenses allegedly committed between 2012 and 2015. A source familiar with the case, who spoke anonymously, said the extradition request prompted the arrest.

Both men previously lived in Romania after moving there in 2016. They were arrested in Romania in 2022 on accusations of facilitating schemes that lured women for sexual exploitation, but the case was not pursued due to procedural issues. Their legal representatives have consistently denied the allegations.

"The warrant is sealed," Brady McCarron, a spokesperson for the Marshals Service, told the Associated Press.

The brothers, former professional kickboxers, have built a large online following, particularly among younger male audiences, by promoting a lifestyle centered on wealth and controversial gender views.
