Google to unveil Pixel Watch 5 with higher prices for some models at August event

Summary

Google's Made by Google event on Aug. 12 will introduce the Pixel Watch 5, which is expected to launch on Aug. 20 with price increases for certain configurations in the U.S., U.K., and Europe.

Google has confirmed that its Made by Google event will take place on Aug. 12 at 6 p.m. Eastern Time, where it is expected to showcase the next generation of Pixel devices, including the Pixel Watch 5 and the Pixel 11 smartphone series. Leaks attributed to a source known as billbil-kun indicate that the watch will be available for purchase on Aug. 20, with pre-orders beginning on Aug. 13.

Four configurations have been identified, covering 41 mm and 45 mm case sizes. In the United States, the new models are projected to be up to $50 more expensive than the Pixel Watch 4, while the United Kingdom and European markets show similar price hikes for the 41 mm versions but no increase for the 45 mm size.

All variants are expected to retain the same connectivity options as previous generations—Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and optional LTE—contrary to earlier speculation that Wi-Fi-only models might be discontinued.

The leaked information also lists the color options, noting that a gold finish will be limited to the 41 mm model and that a new “Pyrite” shade will have a green tint. A Dutch publication shared mock-up images of the colorways.

"The event will set the stage for the next generation of Pixel," the invitation sent to media said.

The Pixel Watch 5 is slated for a worldwide rollout on the same day as the Pixel 11 smartphones, aligning with Google's typical product launch schedule.
