Teacher Who Mentored Taylor Swift Dies on Day of Her Marriage to Travis Kelke
Taylor Swift's former high school teacher and later security guard, Kirk Schwabe, died of cancer on the same day she married Travis Kelce, according to reports.
Taylor Swift's wedding to Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce coincided with the death of Kirk Schwabe, a former teacher and security guard for the singer. Schwabe, who taught criminal justice at Hendersonville High School in Nashville from 2004 to 2006, died of cancer on July 3 at age 69, the Telegraph reported.
After leaving his teaching position, Schwabe worked as Swift's personal security guard from 2009 until he quit due to burnout, according to a recent interview. He said he still admired Swift, describing her as a "superstar," and praised her choice of husband, noting her good judgment.
Schwabe's wife, Jane, said he treated Swift like a daughter. The singer was unable to attend the wedding, which took place on the same day as Schwabe's passing.
