Amazon gives customers a month to claim settlement payments

Eligible Amazon Prime users have until July 27 to submit a claim for a payout of up to $51 as part of a $2.5 billion FTC settlement.

Eligible Amazon Prime members have 30 days left to file a claim for a payment that could reach $51, according to the terms of a $2.5 billion settlement with the Federal Trade Commission. The claim window closes on July 27, marking the second phase of payouts; the first phase involved automatic payments to qualifying customers last year.

Customers qualify if they signed up for Prime between June 23, 2019, and June 23, 2025, and either unsuccessfully attempted to cancel their subscription or enrolled through a "challenged" enrollment flow, which includes specific pages on Amazon’s site such as the Universal Prime Decision Page or the Prime Video enrollment flow. To be eligible for this round, claimants must have used their Prime benefits ten times or fewer within any 12-month period of enrollment.

Claims can be submitted through an online portal or by email to [email protected], with the portal described as the fastest method. Amazon has 30 days to review each submission, and approved payments are expected by September. The company has denied any wrongdoing, stating it strives to make Prime cancellations clear and simple.
