Search continues for missing giraffe on Texas ranch
A 3- to 4-year-old giraffe named Gracie vanished from Cedar Hollow Ranch in Real County, Texas, prompting a reward and ongoing search efforts.
A giraffe identified as Gracie has been missing from Cedar Hollow Ranch near Leakey, Texas, after she escaped from an unfenced area beyond an eight-foot gate. Ranch manager Vick Jones said the animal, aged about three to four years, was last captured on a game camera west of the property and had been feeding on a hillside that other giraffes typically avoid.
Officials in Real County announced a $5,000 reward for information leading to Gracie’s safe return. Jones searched an area about four miles from the ranch on Tuesday following a tip that included photos, but the images were dated several days earlier and did not show the giraffe.
The ranch, which houses several hundred animals including impalas, Nubian ibex and a Central African antelope, will continue the search until the giraffe is recovered. > "The search will continue until we get her home," Jones said.
