Russian 337th Brigade Pulls Back from Kinburn Spit Amid Supply Shortages

Summary

Units of Russia's 337th Brigade are withdrawing from the Kinburn Spit after supply lines were cut, according to statements from the pro-Ukrainian group ATESH.

Russian forces are retreating from the Kinburn Spit, a narrow sandbar at the mouth of the Dnipro River that overlooks the approaches to Mykolaiv and Odesa. The withdrawal involves elements of the 337th Brigade, which have reportedly abandoned positions in the northern and western parts of the spit after supply routes were disrupted, halting deliveries of ammunition, fuel and food.

"Due to significant personnel losses, units of the 337th Brigade are being withdrawn from the coastline—specifically from the northern and western parts of the spit. Fire teams are unable to cope with shooting down Ukrainian defense forces’ UAVs, and casualties continue to mount," a statement attributed to ATESH said.

ATESH added that part of the brigade had previously been redeployed to the Zaporizhzhia sector, leaving the remaining troops understaffed, and that no reinforcements had been sent. The group claimed Russian commanders are shifting troops between positions to offset shortages, resulting in fragmented units on the spit.

Analysts note that the spit’s exposed terrain makes sustained defense difficult without regular resupply, and Ukrainian forces are unlikely to attempt a permanent re-occupation at this stage.
