Former US Official Arrested for Theft Involving Gold Bars and Cash
David Rush, a former senior CIA official, has been arrested after FBI agents discovered over $40 million in gold bars and additional cash and luxury items at his residence in Virginia.
A former senior official from the CIA, David Rush, has been arrested following the discovery of approximately 303 gold bars, valued at over $40 million, in his Virginia home. Court documents reveal that Rush had made numerous requests to the US government over the past year to receive these gold bars for what he described as 'work-related expenses.'
Rush has been charged with criminal theft of public money, as well as facing allegations of lying about his education and military service when he was hired for his government position. He has also been accused of fraudulently taking military leave, collecting thousands of dollars in pay.
Additional searches at Rush's home yielded around $2 million in cash and 35 luxury watches, including several Rolexes. The CIA initiated an internal investigation after identifying potential legal violations, subsequently referring the case to the FBI.
The FBI's findings included a lack of records substantiating Rush's claims of disposition for the large quantities of gold and foreign currency purportedly used for official purposes. Rush is currently being detained pending a hearing, while his attorney has not provided any comments regarding the case.
