Aimee Bock, former head of Feeding Our Future, received a nearly 42-year prison sentence for orchestrating a $250 million fraud scheme during the pandemic.

Aimee Bock, the former executive director of the Minnesota nonprofit Feeding Our Future, has been sentenced to nearly 42 years in prison for orchestrating a $250 million fraud scheme during the COVID-19 pandemic. The organization falsely claimed to provide millions of meals to children in need, diverting federal funds intended for child nutrition programs.

U.S. District Judge Nancy Brasel described the case as a "vortex of fraud," stating that Bock was at its "epicenter." Bock, 45, expressed remorse in court, saying, "I understand I failed. I failed the public, my family, everyone."

Prosecutors revealed that Bock and her co-conspirators used the misappropriated funds for personal enrichment, including international travel, real estate purchases, and luxury vehicles. The scheme is considered the largest COVID-19 fraud case in the United States.

Following the sentencing, authorities announced charges against 15 additional individuals accused of defrauding federal programs administered through Minnesota's state government. Assistant Attorney General Colin McDonald emphasized the government's commitment to recovering stolen funds, stating, "We will claw back every dollar you have stolen from the American people."

The case has also drawn attention to the Minnesota Department of Education's oversight, as state auditors found that the department received numerous complaints about Feeding Our Future but often instructed the organization to police itself.

To date, at least 65 individuals have been convicted in related fraud cases, many from the state's Somali community. Bock's attorney, Kenneth Udoibok, argued for a shorter sentence, contending that she had provided key information to investigators and was unfairly portrayed as the mastermind.

The investigation into pandemic-related fraud continues, with authorities vowing to hold all responsible parties accountable and recover misused federal funds.
