State Department to Issue Limited-Edition Passports Featuring President Trump's Image for America's 250th Anniversary

Résumé

The U.S. State Department will release a limited series of commemorative passports featuring President Donald Trump's image to mark the nation's 250th anniversary.

The U.S. State Department has announced plans to release a limited-edition passport design to commemorate the nation's 250th anniversary. This special edition will feature President Donald Trump's portrait on the inside cover, superimposed over the Declaration of Independence and the American flag, with his signature in gold lettering below.

State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott stated that the department is preparing to release a limited number of these specially designed U.S. passports to commemorate this historic occasion. The commemorative passports will be available at the Washington Passport Agency starting in July 2026, coinciding with the nation's semiquincentennial celebrations. Applicants at this location will receive the special edition by default while supplies last, whereas other passport agencies and online applications will continue to issue the standard design.

The new design also includes a depiction of the Founding Fathers signing the Declaration of Independence on another page. The State Department has not confirmed whether a sitting president's image has previously appeared in U.S. passports.

White House spokesperson Olivia Wales commented that President Trump's new patriotic passport design provides yet another great way Americans can join in the spectacular celebrations for America's 250th birthday.

This initiative is part of a broader effort to commemorate the nation's 250th anniversary, which includes plans to feature President Trump's image and signature on U.S. currency and commemorative coins. In March, a federal commission approved a 24-carat gold coin depicting the president in honor of the milestone.
