Ukraine Strengthens Defense Ties with Gulf Nations Through 10-Year Agreements
Ukraine has entered into decade-long defense cooperation agreements with Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates, focusing on joint projects and technology sharing.
Ukraine has formalized 10-year defense cooperation agreements with Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates, aiming to enhance joint defense industry projects, technology sharing, and military training.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy highlighted the significance of these agreements, stating, "I believe these are historic agreements. We have agreed on strategic cooperation in the MilTech direction and other areas. We are talking ten-year agreements."
The agreements encompass the development of defense technologies, air defense systems, counter-drone capabilities, and electronic warfare. They also include provisions for joint production facilities and technological partnerships between companies.
These partnerships come as Middle Eastern countries face growing drone threats, with Ukraine offering its battle-tested drone defense expertise to assist Gulf nations in countering such attacks.
The agreements are part of a broader "Drone Deal" framework, which includes multiple contracts covering exports of Ukrainian weapons, joint production, and co-developed technologies funded by partner states.
These developments mark a significant expansion of Ukraine's defense cooperation with Middle Eastern countries, reflecting a mutual interest in enhancing security and technological capabilities.
