Brian Hooker remains in Bahamian custody as investigations continue into the disappearance of his wife, Lynette Hooker, who reportedly fell overboard during a boating trip.

Bahamian authorities have extended the detention of Brian Hooker, a 59-year-old U.S. citizen, as investigations continue into the disappearance of his wife, Lynette Hooker. Lynette, 55, was reported missing on April 4 after allegedly falling overboard from an 8-foot dinghy during a trip from Hope Town to Elbow Cay. Brian Hooker informed police that his wife fell into the water, taking the boat's engine keys with her, which caused the engine to shut off. He stated that strong currents carried her away, and he lost sight of her. Unable to restart the engine, he paddled to shore to seek help.

On April 8, Brian Hooker was taken into custody by the Royal Bahamas Police Force for questioning. His attorney, Terrel Butler, stated that he "categorically and unequivocally denies any wrongdoing" and is cooperating fully with the authorities. The U.S. Coast Guard has also initiated a separate criminal investigation into the incident.

Family members have expressed skepticism regarding Brian Hooker's account. Lynette's daughter, Karli Aylesworth, questioned the likelihood of her mother "just falling" from the boat, citing her experience with sailing and swimming. She also mentioned a history of domestic disputes between the couple, including a 2015 incident where both accused each other of assault.

The couple, who had been married for over two decades, documented their sailing adventures across the Caribbean on social media under the moniker "The Sailing Hookers." Despite their online presence, reports suggest a troubled past, including periods of separation and reconciliation.

As of April 13, Brian Hooker remains in custody without formal charges, and the search for Lynette continues. Authorities have not provided further updates on the investigation.
