Bahamian authorities have arrested Brian Hooker, 59, in connection with the disappearance of his wife, Lynette Hooker, 55, who was reported missing after allegedly falling overboard during a boat trip near Elbow Cay. The arrest occurred in Abaco, and Hooker is currently being questioned. The U.S. Coast Guard has initiated a criminal investigation into the incident.
According to police reports, the couple was traveling in an 8-foot motorboat from Hope Town to Elbow Cay on Saturday night when Lynette fell overboard with the boat keys, causing the engine to shut off. Brian Hooker stated that strong currents carried her away, and he lost sight of her. He then paddled to shore and alerted authorities early Sunday morning.
Family members have expressed skepticism regarding this account. Aylesworth also mentioned a history of volatility in her mother's relationship with Brian Hooker, particularly when alcohol was involved.
Lynette's mother, Darlene Hamlett, expressed a desire for more information from her son-in-law, stating she had not heard from him in almost two days. The couple, married for over two decades, documented their sailing adventures on social media under the moniker "The Sailing Hookers."
