OpenAI has secured an additional $10 billion in funding, elevating its total fundraising to over $120 billion and surpassing its initial $100 billion target.
The latest investment round includes contributions from Andreessen Horowitz, D.E. Shaw Ventures, MGX, TPG, and T. Rowe Price. Microsoft, a longstanding partner and investor, also participated in this funding phase.
This funding follows a previous $110 billion raise announced in late February, which featured significant investments from Amazon ($50 billion), Nvidia ($30 billion), and SoftBank ($30 billion).
OpenAI's Chief Financial Officer, Sarah Friar, highlighted the broad investor interest, stating, "We raised money all around the ecosystem... people really believed in this AI revolution and they wanted to put their money to work behind it."
Founded in 2015, OpenAI has experienced rapid growth, with its ChatGPT chatbot amassing 900 million weekly active users and generating approximately $13.1 billion in revenue last year.
