Israel Intensifies Airstrikes on Tehran Amid Escalating Middle East Conflict
Israel has launched extensive airstrikes on Tehran and Beirut, targeting military facilities, as regional tensions escalate following recent attacks.
Israel has initiated a series of extensive airstrikes on Tehran and Beirut, targeting military facilities in both capitals. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) announced a "large-scale wave of strikes" on Tehran, following earlier simultaneous attacks on both cities.
In response, Iran has launched retaliatory missile and drone attacks across the region, including strikes on U.S. allies. Notably, two drones struck the U.S. Embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, causing minor damage and prompting a "shelter in place" alert for several cities.
The conflict has also spread to Lebanon, where Hezbollah targeted an Israeli tank near the border village of Kfar Kila. In retaliation, Israeli jets bombed areas in Beirut and southern Lebanon, escalating tensions further.
Casualties have been reported on both sides. In Israel, nine people, including four teenagers, were killed in a missile strike on a bomb shelter. In Iran, a strike on a girls' school in Minab resulted in significant civilian casualties.
International reactions have been swift. Russia condemned the U.S.-Israel strikes on Iran as an "unprovoked act of armed aggression," warning of potential humanitarian and economic crises. Meanwhile, Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated that Turkey is making "intense" diplomatic efforts to end the conflict in the Middle East.
The situation remains fluid, with ongoing military actions and diplomatic efforts unfolding across the region.
