Iranian authorities have reported substantial damage to civilian infrastructure and healthcare facilities amid ongoing military actions involving the United States and Israel.
Mojtaba Khaledi, spokesperson for the Iranian Red Crescent Society, stated that nearly 20,000 civilian buildings, including at least 16,000 residential units, have been affected after more than 11 days of conflict. He also noted that 77 healthcare facilities have sustained damage, though he did not specify how many were hospitals or whether any were directly struck.
Khaledi highlighted that some healthcare facilities are currently out of service, preventing patient admissions. In certain instances, medical operations were underway when the facilities were hit. Additionally, 16 Red Crescent centers have been affected, with personnel relocated to continue rescue operations.
Deputy Health Minister Ali Jafarian reported that more than 12,000 people have been wounded, and most of the 1,250 confirmed fatalities are civilians, including 200 children and 200 women. He also noted that 11 healthcare workers have been killed and 55 wounded, including physicians, nurses, and emergency workers.
The Israeli army stated on Monday that it has killed more than 1,900 military personnel and commanders and wounded thousands during its ongoing air attacks. It has not commented on reports of civilian casualties.
Iranian authorities have called for action from international organizations, including the International Committee of the Red Cross, to prevent further harm to civilians.
