Metropolitan Police Decline to Investigate Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor Over Bodyguard Allegations
The Metropolitan Police have decided not to pursue a criminal investigation into claims that Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor requested his bodyguard to investigate Virginia Giuffre in 2011.
The Metropolitan Police have announced they will not pursue a criminal investigation into allegations that Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, formerly known as Prince Andrew, asked his bodyguard in 2011 to investigate Virginia Giuffre. The claims, initially reported in October, suggested that Mountbatten-Windsor provided his bodyguard with Giuffre's personal information, including her date of birth and social security number, shortly before a photograph of them together was published in February 2011. After assessing the allegations, the police stated they found no new evidence of criminal behavior or misconduct and thus would not reopen the investigation.
Mountbatten-Windsor has consistently denied all allegations against him. In 2022, he settled a civil lawsuit with Giuffre without admitting wrongdoing, though he acknowledged her suffering.
Giuffre, a prominent advocate for sex trafficking survivors, died by suicide in April 2025 at her farm in Western Australia. She had accused Mountbatten-Windsor of sexually abusing her when she was a teenager, a claim he has denied.
The Metropolitan Police emphasized their commitment to thoroughly assessing any new information that could assist in this matter. They stated that, to date, no additional evidence has been received that would support reopening the investigation.
