此次盗窃发生在10月19日，盗贼使用装载式梯子进入阿波罗画廊，盗走了九件价值约8800万欧元（约1.02亿美元）的物品。被盗珠宝包括玛丽-阿梅莉女王和霍尔滕斯女王佩戴的钻石和蓝宝石珠宝套装。
当局仍在寻找另外两名嫌疑人和失窃的珠宝。贝库奥表达了对追回珠宝的希望，并指出这些物品现在已无法出售，呼吁归还。
“我希望这些珠宝能够被找到并归还给卢浮宫博物馆和国家，”贝库奥补充道。“这些珠宝现在已无法出售，任何购买它们的人都将构成处理赃物的犯罪。目前仍有时间归还它们。”
