Dodgers Edge Phillies 4-3 in NLDS Game 2, Take 2-0 Series Lead
The Los Angeles Dodgers secured a 4-3 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies in Game 2 of the National League Division Series, moving within one win of advancing to the NLCS.
The Los Angeles Dodgers secured a 4-3 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies in Game 2 of the National League Division Series on Monday, taking a 2-0 lead in the best-of-five series. Dodgers' left-hander Blake Snell delivered a dominant performance, pitching six scoreless innings with nine strikeouts and allowing only one hit.
The game remained scoreless until the seventh inning when the Dodgers capitalized on a series of hits and a fielding error to score four runs. The Phillies responded in the ninth inning, narrowing the gap with three runs, including a two-run double by Nick Castellanos. However, their rally fell short, leaving the tying run stranded on base.
Phillies' manager Rob Thomson acknowledged the team's struggles, stating, "I think those guys are trying to do a little too much right now, instead of just being themselves and looking for base hits. The power will come."
The series now shifts to Dodger Stadium for Game 3 on Wednesday, where the Phillies face elimination. Historically, teams that have taken a 2-0 lead in a best-of-five postseason series have advanced 80 out of 90 times, including 54 sweeps.
