Dallas ICE Facility Shooting Leaves One Detainee Dead, Two Injured
A shooting at a Dallas ICE facility resulted in one detainee's death and two others injured; the gunman died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
A shooting occurred at a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in Dallas on September 24, 2025, resulting in the death of one detainee and critical injuries to two others. The assailant, identified as 29-year-old Joshua Jahn, fired from an elevated position atop a nearby building before dying from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The incident took place around 6:40 a.m. at the ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations facility along I-35E. Dallas Police Department officers responded promptly, securing the scene. No ICE officers or law enforcement personnel were harmed during the attack.
FBI Special Agent in Charge Joseph Rothrock stated that the FBI is investigating the shooting as an act of targeted violence. He noted that rounds found near the suspected shooter contained messages with anti-ICE sentiments.
This event follows a series of attacks on ICE facilities in Texas. On July 4, 2025, an assault on the Prairieland Detention Center in Alvarado injured a police officer. Additionally, in late August, a bomb threat was reported at the same Dallas ICE facility.
Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem condemned the violence, attributing it to anti-ICE rhetoric. She emphasized the need to support ICE personnel and announced plans to enhance security measures at ICE facilities nationwide.
