सारांश

Peel police reported that an incident on the University of Toronto Mississauga campus was confined to a single residential unit, with no injuries reported and a shelter-in-place order remaining in effect.

Police in Peel Region confirmed that an incident on the University of Toronto Mississauga (UTM) campus has been contained to a single residential unit after students were instructed to shelter in place on Monday night. The situation was first reported at 9:11 p.m., prompting the university to issue an alert that an "active threat" required immediate sheltering and securing of doors.

University officials said the alert was sent to the campus community and that updates would be provided every 30 minutes until police deem the area safe. The immediate vicinity of Mississauga Road and Outer Circle Road was evacuated, and a police presence remains in the area while residents are urged to stay inside.

Police indicated that the incident is now isolated, with no injuries reported. Peel Regional Paramedic Services were on standby at a staging location but were not called to the scene. The university’s media relations department noted that the lockdown of the McLuhan Court residence continues into the early hours of Tuesday.
