Apple acknowledges inner-display cracking issue on limited iPhone Duo units

Résumé

Apple said it is aware of a problem affecting the inner display of a small number of iPhone Duo devices and advised owners to contact AppleCare for replacements.

Apple confirmed that a limited number of iPhone Duo smartphones have experienced cracks in the inner display along the hinge. The company said the issue appears early in the device’s life and affects only a small fraction of units.

"We are aware of an issue impacting the inner display on a small number of iPhone Duo units. If users experience issues with their iPhone Duo display, they should contact AppleCare for a replacement," Apple said in a statement to 9to5Mac.

Apple added that most iPhone Duo devices are not affected and that a replacement does not require AppleCare+. Users who purchased the phone through a carrier are instructed to contact AppleCare directly rather than the carrier.

The problem was first reported on Reddit and other online forums over the weekend, with some posts later identified as AI-generated fabrications. iFixit suggested that certain internal components might exert excessive pressure on the display, potentially contributing to the cracks.
