Apple Announces Limited Walk-In Availability of iPhone Duo at Select Stores

Résumé

Apple said only a small number of iPhone Duo units will be available for walk-in purchase on launch day at Apple Stores in certain countries, with many locations requiring reservations.

Apple confirmed that on Friday, October 23, a limited stock of the iPhone Duo will be available for walk-in customers at Apple Stores in a number of countries, including the United States, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Mexico, Germany, the Netherlands, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey and the United Kingdom. Some stores in Italy will also carry walk-in inventory, though specific locations were not disclosed.

"On Friday morning, our teams look forward to welcoming customers at Apple Stores to experience iPhone Duo and the iPhone line-up for themselves," an Apple spokesperson said.

The company noted that due to strong pre-order demand, the limited walk-in supply is expected to sell out quickly. In Macau, walk-in customers will have access only on launch day, also with limited stock.

Apple indicated that in France, China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Malaysia, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand and the United Arab Emirates, the iPhone Duo will not be sold to walk-in shoppers on launch day; customers in those markets must make a reservation for store pickup via the online store. The walk-in restrictions are intended to manage crowd sizes and deter scalping.

The online store advises customers to check back on Saturday, October 24, for information on store-pickup reservations, leaving it unclear whether reservations can be made on the launch day itself.
