Christina Applegate Says She Was Misdiagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis

Resumen

Actress Christina Applegate disclosed on her podcast that doctors have determined her previous multiple sclerosis diagnosis was incorrect, prompting further medical investigation.

Actress Christina Applegate, 54, announced on Tuesday’s episode of her "MeSsy" podcast that she has been misdiagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS). The revelation, which she described as leaving her "in a state of shock," means she will undergo additional testing to identify the cause of her symptoms.

"I was not happy at all," Applegate told co-host Jamie-Lynn Sigler. "You don’t get misdiagnosed and all of a sudden I’m better. I haven’t gotten better. If anything, I’ve gotten worse in some ways."

Applegate first revealed a multiple sclerosis diagnosis in 2021 and has spoken publicly about related symptoms, including depression and intense pain, as well as authoring a memoir about her experience. During the podcast she expressed uncertainty about her health, saying, "I don’t know what’s going on with me," and noted that she feels she may have let the MS community down.

"The misdiagnosis changes nothing about Applegate’s efforts to bring awareness to MS or to educate listeners," co-host Sigler, who has lived with MS for more than a decade, added.

Applegate emphasized that she does not feel relief about the news and that the situation remains confusing and unsettling for her.
