Actress Christina Applegate Says New Tests Show She Was Misdiagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis

Resumen

Christina Applegate announced on her "MeSsy" podcast that recent medical testing indicated she does not have multiple sclerosis, though her symptoms persist.

Actress Christina Applegate returned to her "MeSsy" podcast after a seven-month hiatus to reveal that new medical technology indicated she was misdiagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS). She said doctors informed her that she does not have MS, but she continues to experience the same symptoms.

"This may come as great news, but to me, I’m back at square one," Applegate said, adding that the diagnosis change leaves her uncertain about her health condition.

Applegate, who was diagnosed with MS in 2021 and stepped away from acting following the finale of "Dead to Me," has been an outspoken advocate for the MS community. She noted that many conditions can mimic MS and that misdiagnoses are relatively common.

"I have every symptom of someone with MS. Every single one," she said, emphasizing that her health issues remain unchanged.

She expressed disappointment at potentially letting supporters down and described the situation as confusing and unsettling. Applegate also recounted the personal and professional impact of the original diagnosis, including periods of depression and mobility challenges.

"I still have to use wheelchairs when I go to the doctor’s office. I can’t walk from the car to the room," she said, noting that the recent clarification has not altered her daily limitations.

The podcast episode continues with Applegate reflecting on the past five years and the ongoing mystery surrounding her condition.
