Jay-Z Chooses Himself to Headline Super Bowl LXI Halftime Show
The rapper announced he will headline the halftime performance at Super Bowl LXI in Inglewood, California, after his company Roc Nation was named producer of the show.
Jay-Z will headline the halftime show at Super Bowl LXI, scheduled for February 14 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. According to a report from Puck News, the artist selected himself for the slot, beating other candidates that included Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber and Harry Styles.
Roc Nation, the entertainment firm founded by Jay-Z, has produced the Super Bowl halftime show since 2019, overseeing the selection of performers and overall production.
The 56-year-old rapper is concluding his four-city "Jay-Z 30 Tour," which marks the 30th anniversary of his debut album "Reasonable Doubt." The tour includes back-to-back concerts at SoFi Stadium on Oct. 23 and 24.
Jay-Z has not previously performed at a Super Bowl halftime, though his wife, Beyoncé, headlined the 2013 show and appeared as a guest in 2016.
"We are excited to bring a fresh perspective to the halftime experience," a Roc Nation spokesperson said.
The announcement comes as the league prepares for the 2025-26 NFL season, with the halftime show expected to draw a global television audience.
