Rams release Harrison Mevis, add Blake Grupe as kicker

Summary

Los Angeles released kicker Harrison Mevis after a series of missed attempts and signed former Jets practice-squad kicker Blake Grupe.

The Los Angeles Rams have released kicker Harrison Mevis and signed Blake Grupe, who was on the New York Jets’ practice squad, according to NFL Network. Mevis missed field-goal attempts in recent games, including a 48-yard try that was blocked in overtime against the Buffalo Bills and earlier misses against Philadelphia and New York Giants.

Grupe, previously with the New Orleans Saints, was released after a string of missed kicks in 2025 but later converted all 11 field goals and 10 extra points in five games for the Indianapolis Colts late in the season.

"If the club is going to turn its 2-3 start into postseason contention, the field-goal operation will need to be more consistently successful," a team source said.

The move reflects the Rams’ ongoing efforts to stabilize a special-teams unit that has seen multiple kickers and coordinators change in recent years.
