Apple to Unveil HomeView Hub, HomePod mini 2 and Updated Apple TV 4K in New York Event
Apple is set to introduce its HomeView smart home hub, a second-generation HomePod mini, and a refreshed Apple TV 4K during a private "Welcome home" event in New York, with the speakers and TV slated for release on Oct. 30 and the hub expected in mid-November.
Apple will showcase three new products at its private "Welcome home" experience in New York, scheduled to begin around 9 a.m. Eastern Time. Attendees, including reporters and content creators, are expected to receive hands-on time with the devices before details are posted on the Apple Newsroom website.
The lineup includes a HomeView smart-home hub, a second-generation HomePod mini, and an updated Apple TV 4K. The HomePod mini and Apple TV 4K are planned for launch on Friday, Oct. 30, while the HomeView hub is anticipated to arrive in mid-November.
HomeView will be offered in a tabletop version with a metal speaker base and a wall-mounted version with a flat square plate. Both models feature a 6-inch square display powered by an A18 chip that supports Apple Intelligence and Siri. The hub runs a new operating system, reportedly called "homeOS," and includes built-in Apple apps for managing smart-home accessories, security, photo galleries, calendars, music, and FaceTime calls. It supports multiple users and is marketed for placement in kitchens, bedrooms, and living rooms. The tabletop version will be available in Gray, Silver, Starlight and Rose, while the wall-mounted version will be offered in Gray and Silver. The device will not host a third-party App Store.
Apple will also launch an "Apple Home Collection" of accessories developed with partners such as LG and Schneider Electric. The collection includes a smart doorbell, deadbolt lock, thermostat, temperature sensor, indoor and outdoor security cameras, and a floodlight camera.
According to reports, the new HomePod mini will use the S10 chip found in the Apple Watch Series 10, an upgrade from the S5 chip in the current 2020 model, and will be available in additional colors including pink and green.
