One dead, several injured after man falls from Six Flags Over Georgia coaster
A man fell from the Goliath roller coaster at Six Flags Over Georgia, resulting in one fatality and multiple injuries, while authorities launched a major crimes investigation.
Officials confirmed that a person died and several others were injured Monday at Six Flags Over Georgia, located about 10 miles west of downtown Atlanta. The incident was reported just before 4 p.m., and the Cobb County Police Major Crimes Unit is leading the investigation.
Witnesses told local TV station WXIA that they observed the man detach from his seat on the Goliath coaster and strike the ride structure several times before falling to the ground. One witness said the rider appeared to be lifted sideways in the air before the fall.
Park representatives said details would not be released immediately out of respect for the family’s privacy and that support is being provided to affected guests and staff.
Video from the scene showed the coaster pausing mid-ride as riders exited. The Cobb County Department of Emergency Communications confirmed the death but did not provide further specifics at the time.
