The actor said he refused to sign Amazon's artificial-intelligence waiver for the Prime Video series "Spider-Noir" and indicated he may not work with the studio again.

Nicolas Cage told a New York Comic Con panel that he declined to sign an artificial-intelligence waiver presented by Amazon for the Prime Video series "Spider-Noir," which the streaming service cancelled after one season.

"Amazon is a very AI-friendly company, to the tune of $50 billion invested in OpenAI. I am not an AI-friendly actor, so it’s like, connect those dots!" Cage said on the Empire Stage.

He added that he had not signed the waiver that would allow the studio to use AI on the show and that he is unlikely to work with Amazon again, though he noted that the studio will still release his upcoming biopic "Madden."

"Spider-Noir" was the actor's first regular television role and earned 11 Emmy nominations, the most for any Prime Video program this year. The series logged 2.6 billion viewing minutes in its first six weeks, according to Nielsen data, before being cancelled on September 4.

Cage also expressed interest in collaborating with younger filmmakers from platforms such as YouTube, naming "Backrooms" director Kane Parsons as an example.
