Nicolas Cage comments on Prime Video's cancellation of Spider-Noir after one season

सारांश

Actor Nicolas Cage said one season of the series was sufficient and praised the work, while Prime Video confirmed there will be no second season of the superhero show.

Prime Video has decided not to produce a second season of the superhero series Spider-Noir, ending the show after its first run. Actor Nicolas Cage, who starred in the series, said in a statement to Deadline that a single season was "perfect, having said what I wanted to say" and expressed satisfaction with the project's outcome.

Cage previously told Variety that, regardless of renewal, the creative team had achieved their goals and that the season "works on its own." The first season, which concluded most of its storyline, received strong critical and audience reception, earning a 92% critics score and a 90% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, and it garnered 11 Emmy nominations, the most for any Prime Video series in 2026.

Co-showrunners Oren Uziel and Steve Lightfoot, along with executive producers Phil Lord, Christopher Miller and Amy Pascal, highlighted the series' distinctive release in both color and black-and-white formats. Cage explained that he drew inspiration from 1930s and 1940s cinema, citing Howard Hawks and the film Double Indemnity as influences for his performance.

The actor remains under contract with Prime Video and will appear as football coach John Madden in the upcoming streaming film Madden, scheduled to premiere on November 18. Cage also indicated he intends to continue working on streaming projects, noting that he has supported the medium for years.
