Nicolas Cage says he will not work with Amazon after AI waiver dispute

摘要

The actor said he declined to sign an artificial-intelligence waiver for Amazon’s series “Spider-Noir” and indicated he will not collaborate with the studio again.

Nicolas Cage told attendees at New York Comic Con that he refused to sign an artificial-intelligence waiver required for the Amazon-produced series “Spider-Noir,” and that the disagreement means he is unlikely to work with the company again. > "Amazon is a very AI-friendly company, to the tune of $50 billion invested in OpenAI," Cage said, adding that he does not consider himself an "AI-friendly actor" and would not allow AI to be used on the show.

Amazon did not respond to a request for comment. The dispute comes as Hollywood unions negotiate protections against AI in new contracts, while the industry grapples with the emergence of AI-generated performers.

“Spider-Noir,” a 1930s-style crime thriller featuring Cage as a version of Spider-Man, premiered in May and was produced by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios. The series logged 2.6 billion minutes of streaming in its first six weeks and earned 11 Emmy nominations, winning five, before Amazon announced its cancellation after one season.

Cage also used the panel to confirm he will appear in the upcoming HBO series “True Detective,” noting that his agent is already fielding inquiries about the role.
