A Gulfstream G100 air-ambulance that departed Bermuda for Boston vanished near Nantucket early Saturday, prompting a Coast Guard search for the six people on board.

The Gulfstream G100 operated by Latitude Air Ambulance disappeared from radar shortly after reporting electrical failures while descending toward Nantucket on a flight from Bermuda to Boston. The aircraft, which left L.F. Wade International Airport at 11:41 p.m. Friday, was carrying a patient, a family member and a four-person crew, all of whom are Canadian or Bermudian nationals.

Air traffic controllers heard the pilot declare an emergency but lost both radio and radar contact around 1 a.m. Flight-tracking data show the jet dropped about 13,000 feet in three minutes before vanishing from surveillance.

The Federal Aviation Administration issued an alert at 1:20 a.m., and the U.S. Coast Guard was notified at 2 a.m. Search and rescue teams were deployed from Logan International Airport, Nantucket Island and the surrounding waters.

Bermuda’s premier said the government is in contact with the families, while Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey expressed the state’s willingness to assist the Coast Guard’s effort.

No wreckage has been located as of the early morning hours, and authorities continue to search the southern shoreline of Nantucket and the adjacent Atlantic area.
