AT&T says it is collaborating with Apple to fix iPhone 18 Pro Max network problems

सारांश

AT&T announced it is working with Apple after a software update failed to fully resolve cellular connectivity issues affecting some iPhone 18 Pro Max devices on its network.

AT&T told MacRumors it is cooperating with Apple to address cellular problems reported by a subset of iPhone 18 Pro Max users on its network. The carrier said Apple has issued a software update intended to fix issues that can disrupt calls, data, texts and emergency 911 calls, and urged affected customers to install the latest version immediately.

"Apple has released a software update to address an issue that may affect calls, data, texts, and 911 calls on a small number of Apple iPhone 18 Pro Max phones," an AT&T spokesperson said. "AT&T customers with an iPhone 18 Pro Max should update their phones now to the latest available software. Our top priority is ensuring customers can stay connected when they need it most, and we are working with Apple to make it right."

The problem, first reported last week, causes some devices to lose connection to the AT&T network, enter SOS mode, or experience intermittent service outages. The exact cause has not been confirmed, and Apple has not issued a public comment.

Thousands of owners have posted about the issue on Apple Support Community forums, Reddit and other platforms since the phone’s launch on September 18. The U.S. version of the iPhone 18 Pro Max is the only model equipped with a Qualcomm modem, whereas other variants use Apple’s C2 modem, though a direct link to the malfunction has not been established.

AT&T advised customers experiencing the problem to visit an Apple or AT&T retail store for further assistance, including possible device replacement. A text message sent by the carrier directed some users to update to iOS 27.0.1, but early feedback indicated the update did not fully resolve the connectivity failures. An internal AT&T email shared on Reddit clarified that the update was intended to mitigate future impacts, though its effectiveness remains unclear.

The carrier noted that the standard 14-day return window for the iPhone 18 Pro Max ends today for purchases made on launch day. Apple typically addresses software-related issues through updates and may launch a repair program if a hardware defect is identified. AT&T said it will continue to work with Apple and keep customers informed as more information becomes available.
