Boeing and Union Reach Tentative Agreement to End St. Louis Strike
Boeing Defense and the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers District 837 have reached a tentative five-year agreement to conclude a five-week strike in the St. Louis area.
Boeing Defense and the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) District 837 have reached a tentative five-year agreement to conclude a five-week strike affecting approximately 3,200 workers in the St. Louis area. The proposed contract includes a 24% general wage increase, a $4,000 ratification bonus, and an average 45% increase in compensation over the contract term. A vote on the agreement is scheduled for Friday, and if approved, workers could begin returning by Monday evening, with full production resuming within a week. The strike, which began on August 4 after workers rejected a previous contract offer, had slowed production of key military aircraft programs, including the F-15 and F/A-18. Boeing had implemented contingency plans, including hiring non-union staff to maintain limited operations during the strike.
