WNBA analyst criticizes Indiana Fever crowd after A'ja Wilson technical foul
During Game 2 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, A'ja Wilson received a technical foul after confronting a fan, prompting Prime Video analyst LaChina Robinson to call out the crowd’s behavior.
A'ja Wilson, the four-time WNBA MVP, was assessed a technical foul in the fourth quarter of Game 2 between the Indiana Fever and the Las Vegas Aces after she verbally confronted a fan seated on the baseline. The incident occurred while the Fever held an 11-point lead and was broadcast on Prime Video, where analysts LaChina Robinson and Candace Parker discussed the episode.
Robinson said the situation reflected a pattern of fan interference at Fever home games, adding, "This is really unfortunate, and I feel like this has happened several times here in Indiana. The intensity of the game is enough, and then to have to hear things from the crowd and fans, that should not… that don’t have the right to impact the game at this point and the emotions of these players."
Parker agreed, noting that players have limited options when dealing with disruptive spectators: "To be honest with you, if you’re a player, you can’t say anything. We’re human beings as well and I think sometimes fans get into the game and think they can say whatever they want. We don’t know what was said, but A’ja took exception to it."
The Fever organization later released a statement saying arena security investigated the fan’s conduct, found no violation of the Fan Code of Conduct and considered the matter closed. The league has not disclosed the exact words exchanged between Wilson and the fan.
