Wladimir Klitschko seeks court appointment as guardian of daughter Kaya's estate
The former boxer filed a petition in Los Angeles to be named temporary guardian of his 11-year-old daughter Kaya’s inheritance, citing concerns over missing property and ongoing investigations.
Wladimir Klitschko, 50, submitted paperwork in Los Angeles on Thursday requesting that a court name him temporary guardian of the estate of his 11-year-old daughter, Kaya, who lives with him in Ukraine. The filing states that Kaya is entitled to the entirety of the late actress Hayden Panettiere’s assets and that Klitschko needs authority to receive, manage and hold those assets on her behalf.
Klitschko alleges that federal agents entered Panettiere’s Los Angeles home as part of an investigation and removed property belonging to her estate. He notes that no personal representative has been appointed to protect the estate’s interests and that a security service had changed the home’s locks and relocated storage units containing designer clothing after Panettiere’s death.
The petition further claims that an unidentified individual may continue to attempt to misappropriate estate property and that non-family members have accessed and destroyed emails, with some jewelry items unaccounted for or in law-enforcement custody. Klitschko argues that a personal representative should be appointed immediately to safeguard the estate.
Panettiere died on Aug. 16 at a South Carolina Airbnb from multiple drug toxicities, including fentanyl, at age 35. Her parents are reportedly disputing the handling of jewelry she wore at the time of her death. Klitschko previously posted a tribute to Panettiere, describing her as an important part of his life and the mother of their daughter.
The court documents were obtained by a news outlet; the outlet’s request for comment from Klitschko’s lawyers has not been answered.
