AT&T connectivity problems reported by some iPhone 18 Pro Max owners

Summary

A number of U.S. iPhone 18 Pro Max users have reported difficulty connecting to AT&T's network for calls, texts and data, prompting speculation about a software fix.

Several owners of the U.S. iPhone 18 Pro Max have posted complaints on forums and social media about being unable to access AT&T's cellular network for voice calls, text messaging or mobile data. The issue appears to affect eSIM provisioning as well as traditional SIM connections. The U.S. model of the iPhone 18 Pro Max is the only version released this month that uses a Qualcomm cellular modem, while the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone Duo and the iPhone 18 Pro Max sold elsewhere use Apple's C2 modem. It is not yet known whether the different modem is related to the problem. Apple is testing iOS 27.0.1, slated for release next week, and the update is expected to contain a carrier profile that may address the AT&T connectivity issues.
